SAMPLE PROJECT BARRIER-FREE BEACH FROM THE ALANYA MUNICIPALITY
The Alanya Municipality being a “Social municipality” has implemented a sample project for Turkey that is designed especially for the people with disability at the Cleopatra Beach and Rainbow Beach under the slogan of the Barrier-Free City Alanya. Barrier-free beach elevator, which will allow people with disability to swim individually without any support, has been opened for the use of the people with disability. Designed not to interfere with the infrastructure of the beach the elevator has no intervention to a nature and is a first of its kind in Turkey. Prepared platform will be installed before the summer season and can be removed in the winter season.

THE MAYOR YÜCEL: “AN EXAMPLE FOR TURKEY”

Providing information about the system put into practice the Alanya Mayor Adem Murat Yücel stated; “Being the Alanya Municipality, we have implemented all social projects and signed another project in accordance with the Barrier-Free City Regulation. We have created a system in this region as in the past, so that our guests or people with disability who live in our city and who come for holiday purposes can enjoy Cleopatra Beach, the most beautiful beach in the world. With our new system, a person with disability will be able to go to the middle of the sea without any help. By using technology, they will be able to go and come back with the rail system. Just in case, our lifeguards will continue their work. We implemented a sample project for our country”.
