PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TRAVEL THE HISTORICAL AREAS
Six Points Association of The Blind members, who spend their holiday in Alanya, visited Red Tower, Dockyard and Kemal Atlı Culture House which locates on Alanya Castle. 35 visually impaired people who travelled Red Tower and Dockyard with company of Nilgün Akman from Alanya Municipality Directorate of Culture and Esra Yemez from Accessible Park and Recreation Center listened to the information about those places from devices put there within the context of “ Voice The History”. They also explored the area they were in with cartouche by touching.
The association members who toured Ömürlü Kemal Atlı Culture House in Alanya Castle after they had visited the dockyard found opportunity to know traditional structure of Alanya. Besides, silkworm rearing, silk transformation process and weaving of the silk yarn in weaving looms were shown in practice. The group who emphasized that they had never witnessed such applications in historical areas found Alanya’sprotection of the cultural heritage praiseworthy along with city planning for people with disabilities.
