Alanya Municipality continues to share the favorable
outcomes of the most successful Accessible Tourism project across the country.
Representing Alanya Municipality, Mr. Münir Altıoğlu, the Project Coordinator
of the Accessible Park and Recreation Center, and Physiotherapist Erdem Demir
have participated in Accessible Izmir 2013 International Congress of Urban
Problems and Solutions for People with Disabilities organized by Izmir
Metropolitan Municipality between October 30th and November 3rd in Izmir
International Fairground.
In the session of Exemplary Practices of Local Administrations for People with
Disabilities, which was held on November 1st, Mr. Münir Altıoğlu, who is the
Project Coordinator of the Accessible Park and Recreation Center and also the
Secretary of the Accessible Tourism Commission, explicated the Accessible
Tourism program commenced by Alanya Municipality in 2003 and the project
“ACCESSIBLE TOURISM CITY: ALANYA” implemented in 2011 in cooperation with
Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Disabled and Elderly Services Department
of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, Alanya Municipality, Alanya
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Alanya Tourism Operators Association.
The practices of Alanya Municipality in the field of Tourism for people with
disabilities presented during the session of Exemplary Practices of Local
Administrations for People with Disabilities, which was one of the most
favorite sessions of the Congress, have been highly acclaimed. The congress
incorporating dance and music workshops and an awareness activity, where
non-governmental organizations, local administrations, and disabled product
manufacturers set up stands and disabled sport federations and affiliated teams
performed sporting activities, ended with the closing remarks of Mr. Aziz
Kocaoğlu, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
