FOURTH ''TOURISM FOR ALL'' CONGRESS HELD IN SPAIN

The congress was held in Avila, Spain on the 26th, 27th and 28th of June 2013 with main organization of Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles (ONCE) (Foundation for the Spanish Blinds) and the support of World Tourism Organization (WTO), European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), European Institute for Design and Disability (EIDD), Tourism and Commerce Ministry of Spain.

The main subject of the congress where Münir Altıoğlu, the Project Coordinator of Barrier-free Park and Wellness Center, attended as representer of Alanya Municipality and Mr. Hüseyin Balıkçıoğlu attended as representer of Alanya Tourist Operators Association was to standardize the rules of accessibility and design of the historical and cultural constructions.

In congress, the sessions were held about determining the rules of design for universal accessibility, sharing the good samples of tourism for people with disabilities, showing the profitability of tourism for people with disabilities, uniting the accessibility standards of tourism for everybody, increasing the role of culture which is regarded as the source of tourism in sector, creating new employment for people with disabilities in developing cultural tourism, maintaining the necessary platform for people with disabilities to be more visible and make them participate more in active life and finally increasing awareness in society about people with disabilities.

Avila, which was awarded as being a friendly city for people with disabilities by European Commission in 2011 and hosted the conference, organized excursions on the first two days to Avila castle and museums to make a presentation of good application samples.
