ALANYA MUNICIPALITY JOINED EUROPEAN TOURISM FORUM

The 10th meeting of European Tourism Forum, which is conducted in the president country of the European Union every year, was held in Krakow, Poland between 5-7 of October.

Münir Altıoğlu participated the European Tourism Forum as representer of Alanya Municipality. The opening speech of the forum was made by Katarzyna Sobierakska who is a member of European Union Parliamentary Assembly and undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport in Poland.   Sobierakska started her speech thanking the forum participants of all the countries and stressed the importance of cooperation between the tourism countries, safe accommodation, changing point of view in cultural tourism and competitive power of European tourism sector. 

Pedro Ortun ( the chairman of European Union Consumer’s Goods and Tourism Commission) conducted the forum meeting which took place in Juliusz Slowacki theater on the first day. On the first session Kostas Andropoulos told European Union Perspective.
Fleming Government Deputy Minister Bourgeois Geert, Tourism Director of the European Union from Hungarian Presidency Andrea Nemes, director of European Travel Comission Petra Hedorfer, director of European Economical and Social Committee, Production, Consumption and Domestic Marketing Department Kent Nystrom, director of European Tourism Commerce Union Contact Committee Marie Kihlberg Nelving made speeches during the same session.

Morning session about consolidation of socio- economical tourism database was conducted by Pedro Ortun( the chairman of European Union Consumer’s Goods and Tourism Comission)  in Auditorium Maximum on the second day of the forum. Director of  Europe Region of World Tourism Organization Cordula Wohlmuther, EUROSTAT Tourism Statistics chairman  Christophe Demunter, Entrepreneurship, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises and Local Development Center OECD director Sergio Arzeni, Italian Statistics Tourism Observatory chairman Alfredo Zini and Varsaw Economy University professor Ewa Dziedzic made a speech in the panel.

When question-answer part started after the speeches, the evaluations of Alanya Municipality representer Münir Altıoğlu about the inadequacy of Lisbon strategy about accessible tourism and the potential of 80 million tourists with disabilities in Europe and 85 million tourists with disabilities in America to fill the space and his question about the possible changes in the future hotels and city tourism concept was accepted the question of the forum and it was answered by the expert of the subject Kostas Andropoulos.
Mahmutlar Municipality mayor Ali Çelik, Alanya Tourist Operators Association (ALTİD) Administrative Body Member Levent Alanya and one of The Ministry of Tourism authorities A. Kasım Sonkaya also participated the 2011 European Tourism Forum.

Forum ended with an invitation of Polish Ministry of Tourism and Sport in Wieliczka Kopalinia salt mine on the 7th of October.
Above the invitation of Trianon Polish Foundation on the 8th of October, the participants joined the meeting in Golszow region which is a border between Poland and Czech Republic to evaluate the eventual phase of Accessible Health and Accommodation Center in Mahmutlar Municipality.
